“Create value through a sustainable model”

Different speakers will participate in a round-table about value and sustainable development: Vincent Stanley (director Patagonia Philosophy), Michaël Bremans (former CEO, Ecover International) and Marie-Hélène Massard (CEO, AXA Luxembourg). The debate will be chaired by Sabine Denis (change executive officer, Business & Society Belgium).

Vincent Stanley, director Patagonia Philosophy

Vincent Stanley, co-author with Yvon Chouinard of The Responsible Company, has been with the company on and off since its start in 1973. As Patagonia’s long-time chief storyteller, Vincent has helped develop its Responsible Economy campaign; the Footprint Chronicles, the company’s interactive website that outlines the social and environmental impact of its products; the Common Threads Partnership; and Patagonia Books. He recently concluded an 18-month stint as the company’s acting vice president of marketing and communications. He is also a poet whose work has appeared in Best American Poetry.

Michaël Bremans, former CEO, Ecover International

Michaël Bremans has served as Managing Director and subsequently as Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of Ecover since 1993. From May 2011 until April 2013, Mr Bremans has served as Chairman of Ecover International BV. As CEO, Mr Bremans has seen the Belgian-based company grow and expand internationally. Having gained extensive experience in implementing the principles of sustainable development in Ecover’s business strategies, he is committed to see continued future growth for Ecover’s products in the market of ecological washing and cleaning. In October 2008, TIME magazine honored Mr. Bremans as a “Hero of The Environment” along with 29 other eco-pioneers who are changing the world. In December 2011, Mr Bremans received the Award for Responsible Capitalism instituted by FIRST Magazine in London.

Marie-Hélène Massard, CEO, AXA Luxembourg

Marie-Hélène Massard joined the AXA Group in 1996 as Large Corporate Risks Business analyst. From 2001 on, she has had numerous management positions at AXA Group Headquarters in the marketing and customer relationship management fields, including Head of Marketing Business Plans with the Marketing and Distribution Division. From 2008 on, she became a member of the Executive Committee of AXA Poland. She successively held the positions of Marketing Director of Central and Eastern European Region, Personal Insurance and SMEs Director of AXA Poland and eventually Distribution Director. In September 2012, after having acquired a sound international experience, she was appointed CEO of AXA Luxembourg. AXA defines itself “as a company whose business is to protect people over the long term, (with) a responsibility to help build a more sustainable society.”

The debate will be chaired by Sabine  DENIS, Change Executive Officer, Business & Society Belgium

Sabine Denis, Change Executive Officer of Business & Society Belgium, started her career as a lawyer at the Brussels bar. The following years she continued working in the legal domain up till 2000, when she became Deputy Director at the King Baudouin Foundation. In 2008, Sabine Denis became Advisor of the Flemish Minister of Economy. Nowadays, she’s the leading lady of the main Belgian CSR network.
