The Oxford Union Debate - Economic crisis: Keynes was right!

Paperjam.lu

John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) was a British economist and is widely considered to be one of the founders of modern macroeconomics. According to Keynesian economic policies, in the short run, economic output is strongly influenced by total spending in the economy, especially during recessions.

In collaboration with the prestigious Oxford Union Society, considered to be the world’s most prestigious debating society, we have invited four speakers to debate if Keynes was right in providing the right solutions to overcoming the 2008 financial and economic crisis. Founded in 1823 in the city of Oxford, England, the Oxford Union aims to promote debate and discussion, not just in Oxford University, but also across the globe. Diversity, non-conformism, and outspokenness remain the guiding principles of the Oxford Union.

Throughout its rich history, it has been at the cutting edge of controversial debate, attracting famous speakers from all walks of life, such as Winston Churchill, Malcolm X, Michael Jackson and so many more. The Oxford Union believes first and foremost in freedom of speech: nothing more nothing less.
