Watch open air movies

Paperjam.lu

Movie fans who enjoy watching their favourite classic in the open air are spoilt for choice this summer.

Screenings after dark are scheduled for the Capucins courtyard (the original open-air venue), the Grand Ducal palace forecourt (where big budget family movies have been screened over the past few summers) and also outside at the Rotondes during its Congés Annulés season.

Things kick off with the palace screenings, organised by the Cinémathèque and the Ville de Luxembourg in association with Orange and Utopolis. The line up includes several contemporary and popular movies including the original “Star Wars” (check out this original trailer, it’s fab) and the more recent “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens”, “Hail Caesar!” by the Coen brothers, and sing-along favourites like “Grease” and the 1967 animated Disney version of “The Jungle Book”.

Also on the bill are rom-com favourite “When Harry Met Sally”, James Bond classic “Goldfinger”, the great James Dean in “Rebel Without A Cause” and, celebrating the 80th anniversary of its initial release, Charlie Chaplin’s “Modern Times”.

The films all start at 9.30 p.m. and entrance is free.
